I don’t think I realized how badly I needed spring to be here until it finally arrived.  The last few days have been break-your-heart beautiful.  I’ve had the boys outside as much as possible…

This morning we went to Hollywood beach- Arlo is finally big enough to play in the sand and on the logs.

I remember taking Zach to the pirate ship playground when he was about the age Arlo is now.  I have a similar picture of him leaning up against the ladder… I’ll have to find it later and add it to the post.

This afternoon, we went down to the garden and tried to get it ready to plant.  I desperately want to have a garden, but since I lack a green thumb and the weather up here is set against me, it has been a little challenge every year.  But now I have helpers!  Arlo would not stay on the blanket I set out for him, he crawled right up to the garden and almost into it.  He ate and rolled in so much dirt we went straight to the bathtub once we were inside.

I bought Zach a T-Ball set for his birthday, he isn’t quite co-ordinated enough to use it, but we still had fun.

And both boys love the swing we set up near the garden.  Arlo can’t stop giggling the entire time- even if it is Zach we are pushing.  Such a sweet kid.

I had a little case of the blahs this morning- but I think I am recovered now.  Just looking at these pictures and writing this post helps me process all the wonderful things I get to experience each day.  Now if I could just get some sleep…

I'm three!I’m three!

Oh man we’ve had a crazy weekend.  A blue dinosaur birthday party for Zach, visiting grandparents, Easter and a dinner date (!) for Joe and I.  I had these great intentions of writing a post all about Zach and the world of three, but I am just too tired.  Hopefully these pictures from this weekend can speak for themselves until I can gather my words around me and write more about Zach.

The blue dinosaur cakes.  As you can tell, the birthday boy played a key role in decoration.I think we used an entire bottle of sprinkles between the two cakes.  They carrot cake actually tastes pretty good, but the blue frosting is nauseating.  None of the adults had any cake at the party… We still have the entire stegosaurus left to eat.  I’ve been scraping off the icing and feeding the cake to the kids for snack… I mean it has carrots in it, that makes it healthy, right?

Happy Birthday Zach!  You are one special little guy!

I had high hopes for today- Arlo is exactly nine months and Zach’s birthday is next week, so I planned on taking a bunch of pictures and video today to capture the magic.  Well…. when I found Arlo in a pile of puke this morning in his crib with a big ole diarrhea diaper and then Zach puked a few minutes later, I realized it might not quite be the day I planned on.  Except I did get these cute pictures while washing the plague from my children…

Arlo is super cute right now.  His bottom teeth finally popped through this week (which he proudly displays in one of the pictures).  He started to army crawl this week too- not very efficiently or gracefully, but he gets where he wants to go.  And the boy is still all about his food.  He’ll eat just about anything.  One of his favorites is a fried egg, he totally freaks out with excitement when I pull an egg out of the refrigerator.  And he loves pancakes too, which can lead to some conflict with brother when we divide them up.  He is soooo close to sleeping through the night.  I think once we kick this diarrhea thing we’ll be good to go, he mostly wakes up now just ’cause of the poo.  We are still nursing, which I am very proud of.  It is so much work to pump and keep this up while working as much as I do.  He really only enjoys it anymore when he is sleepy, but it is the only time he cuddles with me anymore and I’ll take all I can get.
